Last weekend I led a women’s retreat – the theme was Live in the Light. To live in the light involves both soaking in the light (passive), and living out the light (active).
When I think of soaking in the light, I am reminded of the warmth of the sun beating down on me as I recline on my floatie in the cool lake on a hot summer day. For me, this represents quiet time to think, pray, and meditate on scripture.
When I think of living out the light, the image comes to mind of the Olympic torch-bearer running through the streets with the torch held high overhead. For me, this means to “live on purpose” and intentionally share my life and faith.
What about you?
What does it look like to soak in the light? And what does it mean to live out the light? If you find significance in journaling, journal about these questions. If you write poetry, write a poem. If you love music, compose a song. If you paint or draw, create a picture. Please share your responses with me! Let your light shine, and by so doing, make a positive difference in your world!
“Let your light shine before all, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:16
